BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Minutes
January 22, 1997

Board met in Regular Session 7.30 p.m. in their Meeting Room in Abbot Hall

Present (constituting a quorum):

Anthony M. Sasso, Town Administrator
PERMISSION. Use of Abbot Hall. Motion made and seconded to approve the request of Robert F. Macomber, President of the Marblehead Festival of Arts, to use Abbot Hall Auditorium beginning Friday April 25, 1997, through Sunday, May 1997, for their annual Art Auction, to use Abbot Hall and the Old Town House from Friday, May 30, 1997 through Monday July 7, 1997, at times as outlined in his letter; to use Abbot Hall upper and lower training fields on Sunday, July 6, 1997: and Fort Sewall on Sunday, July 29, 1997. Included in this motion is a one-day permit to serve alcoholic beverages from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fort Sewall on Sunday, June 29, 1997. All in favor. The request to serve refreshments will be worked out at a later date.

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT. Construction Equipment Contract. Motion made and seconded to award the bid for renting and operating construction equipment to the low bidder, P. F. Gallo & Sons, Inc. whose total bid price was $80,840. All in favor

CONTINENTAL CABLEVISION. Motion made and seconded to forward the letter from Eleanor and Robert Cash as it relates to senior citizen discounts for cablevision to Paul Rabin, Chairman of the Cable TV, Oversight Committee. All in favor.

LICENSE. One-day wine and malt. Motion made and seconded to approve the request of Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church to serve beer and wine at a Volunteer Thank You on Friday, February 7, 1997. All in favor.

FIREWORKS. Jim Hourihan appeared before the Board with the announcement that the Annual Fireworks will be held on Friday, July 4, 1997 with Harbor Illumination at 9p.m. and the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The rain date in Sunday, July 6, 1997. Donations for this event are being accepted at the Selectmen's Office in Abbot Hall.

RETIREMENT BOARD. Motion made and seconded to appoint James Hourihan to the Marblehead Employees' Retirement Board. All in favor.

TOWN COUNSEL. The members of the Board of Selectmen along with all those present extended their best wishes to Paul Lausier on the occasion of his thirty-eight years of service to the Town as well as his seventieth birthday. Commendations were presented from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Senate as well as the Board of Selectmen.

Motion made and seconded to adjourn. All in favor. Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
