Instructor-Assisted Freefall / Tandem Progression Method

The USPA Integrated Student Program


The Tandem Progression system of student training allows the student to learn how to safely jump from a plane, deploy his or her own parachute and land using his or her new skills.

Phase One = minimum of three to five skydives with a USPA IAF Instructor: $200 each

NOTE: The next phase is preceded by the four- to six-hour First Jump Course (FJC): $125


AFF Phase = once the tandem student has met the minimum learning objectives and achieves a comfort level with his or her jumps, the student will attend an USPA FJC. This class consists of approximately 4 hours to six hours of classroom and basic skills training followed by practical training for the Category C skydive. Tandem Progression students will start transition to AFF Category C-1 and then follow the normal AFF path to Phase Two.

An A-license "Check Dive" is requried prior to license issuing: $125


Category A – One Tandem Jump
Must be preceded by the normal tandem student training.

Category B – Two Tandem Jumps
Mental relaxation and practice deployments

Category C -- Two AFF Jumps
Unassisted deployment, heading awareness (hover control)
Must be preceded by the USPA First Jump Course.

Category D – Two AFF Jumps
Freefall turns and fall rate

Category E – Three AFF Jumps
Stability recovery, axis control, self-supervision in freefall
