Phase One: Category D

FREEFALL TURNS
Exit and Freefall: Solo, controlled, heading control; freefall speeds and timing

Canopy: Back riser control with and without brakes; stand-up; 50 meters assisted

Equipment: Assisted pre-flight gear check; AAD operation; AAD owner’s manual

Emergency review: Training harness: routine opening problems; instant recognition and response’ building landings

Rules & Recs: SIM 5-21 (buildings): SIM 5-3 (AADs); FAR 105.17 (clouds)

Spotting & Aircraft: Jump run observation; looking below for aircraft

Written/Oral quiz

DIVE FLOW (Jump D-1):

1. Exit at 6,500 with one instructor observing
2. Altitude awareness, heading control
3. Make a 90 degree turn left or right and another 90 degree turn
4. Initiate deployment procedures without prompting and pull by 5,000 feet
6. Back riser steering with brakes still set, canopy check and execute your planned unassisted landing pattern, stand up with 50 meters of target
7. Debrief

DIVE FLOW (Jump D-2):

1. Exit at 7,500 with one instructor observing
2. Altitude awareness, heading control
3. Make a 90 degree turn left or right and another 90 degree turn
4. Initiate deployment procedures without prompting and pull by 4,500 feet
6. Back riser steering with brakes still set, canopy check and execute your planned unassisted landing pattern, stand up with 50 meters of target
7. Debrief


DIVE FLOW (Jump D-3):

1. Exit at 8,500 with one instructor observing
2. Altitude awareness, heading control
3. Make a 180 degree turn left or right and another 180 degree turn
4. Initiate deployment procedures without prompting and pull by 4,000 feet
6. Back riser steering with brakes still set, canopy check and execute your planned unassisted landing pattern, stand up with 50 meters of target
7. Debrief


DIVE FLOW (Jump D-4):

1. Exit at 10,000 with one instructor observing
2. Altitude awareness, heading control
3. Make a 180 degree turn left or right and another 180 degree turn
4. Initiate deployment procedures without prompting and pull by 4,000 feet
6. Back riser steering with brakes still set, canopy check and execute your planned unassisted landing pattern, stand up with 50 meters of target
7. Debrief
