the USPA Integrated Student Program


Phase One: Category A

Preceded by the General (non-method specific) ground school, and the first jump course examination written by Skydive Pepperell, generally given as an "open book" exam, with the instructor present to assist.

Skydives #1 and #2


Exit and Freefall: Adaptation to skydiving environment; principles of deployment, poised student-led exit with Instructor Assisted Deployment

Canopy: Steering, intro pattern, wind line, landing procedures

Equipment: Altimeter operation, handle orientation, instructor gear checks

Emergency review: Passive aircraft emergencies

Rules & Recs: FAR 91.107 (seat belts), SIM 21 (first jump course)

Spotting & Aircraft:
Propeller avoidance, movements in the aircraft


DIVE FLOW

1. Exit in relaxed arch
2. Instructor deploys main parachute as you exit
3. Deployment at 5,000 feet
4. Canopy check, look for traffic around you and execute your planned landing pattern
7. Debrief
