Orientation Procedures

NEW INSTRUCTIONAL RATING HOLDER ORIENTATION PROCEDURES

1. Safety and training procedures and policies reviewed by S&TA and drop zone management
2. Assignment of an AFFI, IADI, IAFI mentor/supervisor as appropriate
3. Video evaluation skydive on at least one skydive
4. Trial period (15 skydives) followed by a
5. Review to regular status or to "Needs Improvement" or other action as approriate,

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION PROCEDURES

1. Each new student must waiver prior to any instruction
2. Student contact information: address, e-mail, best phone, should be maintained at manifest and in the Air Skills Training Center
3. All students are assigned a mentor who follows closely their training career
4. Students should aways be scheduled for a "next jump," prior to leaving the dropzone for the day.
5. Mentors should arrange packing class and water training for their mentees.


NEW SKYDIVER ORIENTATION PROCEDURES

1. All new jumpers should meet with one of our S&TAs prior to jumping
2. New jumpers should have a rig inspection by an S&TA
3. Aerial photos and "best outs" should be viewed
4. Skydiver's log book and license level should be reviewed
5. S&Ts should be confirm canopy size and skydiving skill levels prior to first jump at the dropzone.

OTHER ISSUES

1. If skydivers are demo-ing new canopies, S&TAs should be notified
2. If skydivers are swapping gear and trying each others' canopies, S&TAs shouldbe notified.
3. If skydivers are initially trying a new discipline: i.e., birdsuits, CRW, freeflying, and so on S&TAs should be notified.
4. Students should aways be scheduled for a "next jump," prior to leaving the dropzone for the day.
5. If there are any out-landings, all skydivers on that load are required to check in at manifest.
