BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Minutes
February 11, 1997
Board met in Regular Session 7.30 p.m. in their Meeting Room in Abbot Hall
Present (constituting a quorum):
Thomas A. McNulty, Chairman
Diane E. St. Laurent
William E. Conly
William M. Purdin
F. Reed Cutting, Jr.
Anthony M. Sasso, Town Administrator
BUDGETS. Veterans' Agent. Veterans' Agent, George Carruth appeared before
the Board with his proposed budget for FY'98. An addition was made to Project
Code 5198 - In Service Training, of $115.00, making total expenses $1,079,
an increase of $85 over last year Page 4, $200, not $215. Motion made and
seconded to approve this budget as amended. All in favor
Memorial Day. Motion made and seconded for approval as submitted. All in
favor.
Emergency Management. Motion made and seconded for approval as submitted.
All in favor.
Weights and Measures. Motion made and seconded to accept as submitted. All
in favor.
Surveyor of Highways, William McLaughlin appeared before the Bodrd to discuss
the following budgets.
Drains. Motion made and seconded for approval as submitted. All in favor
Highway. Motion made and seconded for approval as submitted. All in favor
Council on Aging. Nancy Orne, Director of the Council on Aging appeared
before the Board along with John A. M. Dow, a member of the Council on Aging.
To discuss their budget. Motion made and seconded for approval of the budget
as submitted. All in favor.
Harbors & Waters. Harbormaster Warner Hazell presented the budget for
the Harbors & Waters. Motion made and seconded to approve the budget
as submitted.
Engineering. Town Engineer, Douglas Saal, presented the budget for the
Engineering Department. Motion made and seconded for approval as submitted.
All in favor.
Finance Department. Finance Director George B. Snow, along with Robert Ross,
Christopher Coleman and Michael Farrar appeared before the Board to discuss
the budget of the Finance Department. Motion made and seconded to approve
the Salary Detail page which includes a request for a full-time senior clerk.
All in favor. Motion made and seconded to approve expenses as submitted.
All in favor.
Motion made and seconded to approve the request of the Finance Director
to appear before the Finance Committee to request a transfer of $746.09
to pay interest on tax refunds when Town loses at Appellate Tax Board. All
in favor.
Motion made and seconded to adjourn at 9:45 p.m.
