And Is Mine One?

Plan an itinerary
Set a course
Make promises
Act on assumptions
Fool yourself, fool yourself....

EXHAUSTEES
Benefits gone
Bills to pay
Clothes
Food
Shelter
Where's the money coming from?
Still unemployed
After all this time
Exhausted benefits
Balanced budgets forget
Unbalanced meals
And nobody's hiring
On to welfare

ONE THING PER LIFE
Somewhere, I suppose
There's a reckoning
For the boundless wants
I have.
Somewhere I'll be accused
Of being greedy
And too ambitious.
"You should have been satisfied
With one thing,"
They'll say,
"You have wanted too much!"
But sitting here, writing,
I dream of skating
Like a butterfly,
Of singing like a
Clarinet,
Of running like a
Gazelle,
Of playing like a
Child,
Of spinning like a top...
Of dancing
Of sailing
Of exploring
Of adventure, excitement, challenge....
But to be really great
Every person is offered
Only one thing per life.
The trick, I guess,
Is to know it when you see it.

GOD IS LIKE
God is like a poet
Writing with a vision
With tender patience
Of truth, beauty, and goodness.

ONLY ONE THING PER LIFE
Somewhere I suppose
There's a reakoning
For the boundless wants
I have.
Somewhere I'll be accused
Of being greedy
And too ambitious.
"You should be satisfied
With one thing,"
They'll say,
"You have wanted too much!"
But sitting here, writing,
I dream of skating
Like a butterfly,
Of singing like a
Clarinet
Of running like a
Gazelle
Of flying like a
Eagle,
Of playing like a
Child,
Of spinning like a top....
Of dancing
Of sailing
Of exploring
Of adventure, excitement, challenge....
But to be really great
Every person is offered
Only one thing per life.
The trick, I guess,
Is to know it when you see it.

From the past came a rumor shouting,
'All your lies are catching up with you!'
From the future came a worry,
'You'll never overcome the stones you've overturned.'
And in the present stands the simple fact:
'You're surrounded by all you've earned!'
If you're lonely, you know why.
If you're crowded, it's no surprise.
If you're bored, it's your own fault.
If you're happy, you're a better man than I.

WINTER
Completely shaken
Leaves flutter no more
Just rest on colding earth
Wait for changes
And the soil once again.
Around, grasses brown
And sun diminishes
Insects freeze
And birds are gone.

Sometimes
Between a daisy and a smile
I see pathways strewn recklessly
Mile by mile....
Life is a mystic,
Meandering,
River of experience
And we are all swimmers
Of great impetuousness:
Comics and the poets,
Workers and those intellects,
Teachers and the liars,
Students and the clowns;
We are all the same,
We are all the same;
Bidders for attention,
Getting very little,
Lost in a maze
Of strewn pathways.
